HISTORY OF CREATION OF METRO SCHEMES

Until the beginning of the last century, London Underground lines were built by various companies, each of which, naturally, sought to advertise their services. It was sometimes very difficult for passengers to sort out the scattered information about the lines posted on various text leaflets.

A way out of this situation was the publication in 1908 of a diagram created by Albert Stenley, which united all 8 London Underground lines into a single network. For ease of use of the scheme, each line has been marked with its own color. It should be noted that the first metro scheme was in enormous demand: in the first year alone, 6 million copies of it were sold.
